Imprisoned Russian ex-energy minister goes on hunger strike in Switzerland

[JURIST] Yevgeny Adamov, the former minister in charge of the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency (FAAE) [backgrounder] has gone on hunger strike in a Swiss prison, where he has been held since May 2. Adamov, 66, is demanding that Swiss authorities extradite him to Russia on fraud charges. He is also wanted by the US, and was originally arrested in May under a US warrant [JURIST report]. UN deadline for Iraq withdrawal from Kuwait expires

On January 15, 1991, the deadline issued by United Nations for Iraq to withdraw its troops from of Kuwait expired. After Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, the United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 678, giving Iraq until January 15, 1991 to leave.
