The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld President-elect Joe Biden’s win on Monday, rejecting President Donald Trump’s lawsuit denying ballot results.
Justice Brian Hagedorn delivered the court’s opinion, securing Biden’s victory in Wisconsin.
Justice Hagedorn said that the challenges to voting laws “come long after the last play or even the last game; the [Trump] Campaign is challenging the rulebook adopted before the season began.”
The court concluded that the issues brought by the Trump administration (e.g. uncertainty with mail-in ballots) should have been addressed before the election results, not weeks after.
“Striking these votes now—after the election, and in only two of Wisconsin’s 72 counties when the disputed practices were followed by hundreds of thousands of absentee voters statewide—would be an extraordinary step for this court to take,” the majority concluded. “We will not do so.”
The 4-3 ruling was the most recent following Trump’s many petitions against the election results in different states.
