Nevada Supreme Court confirms dismissal of Trump suit to overturn election results

The Nevada Supreme Court Tuesday confirmed a lower court’s dismissal of US President Donald Trump’s suit to overturn the state’s presidential results.

Joe Biden won the presidential election vote in Nevada, which has six votes in the Electoral College, by 33,596 votes in the November 3 election. The president’s legal team challenged the results in Nevada on November 17.

The president’s legal team alleged voter fraud in both mail-in ballots and in-person voting, as well as voter irregularities, late counted ballots, and improper mail ballot delivery. The suit also alleged that the voting process itself was flawed and threatened election integrity. A lower court dismissed the suit with prejudice on Friday, finding that the Trump legal team had failed to meet the requisite burden of proof.

On Tuesday, the Nevada Supreme Court affirmed the lower court’s judgment. To prevail on appeal, the appellants had to demonstrate “error of law, findings of fact not supported by substantial evidence, or an abuse of discretion in the admission or rejection of evidence by the district court.” In a four-page order, signed by six of the justices, the court found that the legal team did not demonstrate any legal errors in the district court’s ruling. The legal team also did not show any unsupported factual findings in the district court’s judgment.
