Apple reached a settlement on Friday in its litigation regarding slow iPhones, agreeing to pay up to $500 million to settle the case.
The case arises out of a class action complaint which alleges that older versions of iPhones started to have performance problems after Apple’s new operating system was released and installed on those phones. The complaint alleges that Apple used its operating system software to cause older iPhone devices to slow down and, in turn, cause customers to purchase new iPhones.
In the settlement, Apple does not admit any of the allegations listed in the complaint.
