A judge in Hidalgo County, Texas, granted a temporary restraining order Tuesday that prevents a group that has sought to build a portion of the border wall from working on the construction.
The temporary restraining order seeks to “preserve the status quo” of the area until a hearing can take place. The order is set to remain in effect for 14 days so that a hearing can take place “to determine whether the temporary restraining order should be made into a temporary injunction.” The judge determined that the group bringing the claim, the National Butterfly Center, will “probably prevail on the merits” of the case and that to not grant this temporary restraining order would cause them “imminent and irreparable harm”.
The National Butterfly Center is the main plaintiff in the case, and sought the order because of the possible environmental impacts of the section of the border wall.
