McDonald’s facing complaints of harassment, abuse, retaliation

The Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and fast-food workers coalition Fight for $15 filed 23 complaints against McDonald’s Tuesday centering around incidents of harassment, abuse and retaliation against employees of the fast-food giant.

Of the 23 complaints, 20 were filed with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), while the remaining three were filed as civil suits. Two of previous complaints were also filed as civil suits against McDonald’s.

In addition, the new complaints are also in response to Time’s Up’s view that McDonald’s failed to adequately respond to sexual harassment complaints filed with the EEOC over a year ago. Since then, McDonald’s began a program with the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, enhancing its policy and informing employees of their rights. Employees state that despite assurances from the company, not much has changed in the past year.
