Missouri Governor Eric Greitens was indicted [text] on a charge of felony invasion of privacy on Thursday.
Greitens was charged with one count of first degree invasion of privacy for knowingly photographing K.S. in a state of full or partial nudity in a place where she had a reasonable expectation of privacy, and he placed the photograph on a computer. The penalty is up to four years in prison.
Under Missouri law [text], the photograph existing made the charge a misdemeanor, but was classified as a felony because the photograph was discovered on a computer. This charge comes after Greitens acknowledged having an affair with a woman back in 2015 and claims that he may have blackmailed the woman with a compromising photograph.
Greitens’ first hearing will be on March 16 and be before Circuit Judge Rex Burlison.
