[JURIST] A suspect implicated in the July, 21 2005 failed bomb attacks on London's subway and bus systems [JURIST news archive] pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to six years and nine months imprisonment. Adel Yahya, who had previously been on trial in July for conspiracy to murder, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of collecting information useful for terrorism.
In July, British Judge Adrian Fulford discharged the jury in the trial of Yahya and another defendant after the jurors indicated they were deadlocked in deliberations [JURIST report]. Prosecutors have elected to retry the other defendant, Manfo Kwaku Asiedu, on conspiracy to murder charges. Asiedu's trial is scheduled to begin on November 12. Four other defendants, convicted of conspiracy to murder by the same jury, have been sentenced to life in prison [JURIST reports].
