[JURIST] The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People [advocacy website] has said that the organization will monitor polling places [press release] during the upcoming mid-term elections on November 7 in ten states chosen in part because of a history of problems in those locations. NAACP President Bruce Gordon [official profile] stated Monday that the organization "will take steps to counter obstacles to voter participation," and the NAACP reported that it will partner with other organizations to handle complaints of irregularities and other voter problems at polling stations. The states to be monitored are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. AP has more.
