Bush renominates 20 blocked judges for federal bench

[JURIST] As he promised in December [JURIST report], President Bush announced Monday that he has re-nominated for federal judgeships some 20 candidates [complete list] whose initial nominations failed, and who generally were derided by Democrats as too right-wing on a wide range of issues. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, responded [press release] to the re-nominations Monday by accusing the President of choosing "confrontation over cooperation and ideology over moderation."
