Mexican prosecutor to file additional "dirty war" genocide charges

Mexico's special prosecutor investigating government human rights abuses during the country's "dirty war" has announced plans to charge 30 former civilian and military leaders with genocide. Prosecutor Ignacio Carrillo Prieto faced a set back last month when a judge refused to issue an arrest warrant for former president Luis Echeverria on similar charges, but has said that his office has solid evidence linking the 30 former officials to about 200 deaths and disappearances. Carrillo Prieto also called on President Vicente Fox to make the investigations a top priority. Thursday's Washington Post has more.
