BREAKING NEWS ~ US Airways files for bankruptcy protection

AP is reporting that financially-troubled US Airways has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. US Airways has issued this press release on its website.

More information about the company's latest Chapter 11 restructuring (its first bankruptcy restructuring was two years ago) is available here. The bankruptcy annoucement comes just a few days after talks between the airline and its pilots over a new cost-cutting proposal collapsed.
