International Criminal Court names Argentinean as first Prosecutor Bernard Hibbitts at 10:18 AM ET
[JURIST] In a statement [text] released in New York Tuesday, President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court [official website], Prince Zeid Raad Al Hussein of Jordan, announced that the States Parties had informally agreed to nominate and elect Luis Moreno Ocampo [LOC bio], of Argentina, as the first prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Formal election will be at the next meeting of the ICC Assembly, scheduled for April 21-24 in New York.
